In Bag of Bones, King tells the story of a writer in the throes of a writer's block who suddenly finds feverish inspiration at a time when he should be concentrating on real life and real things to do. In Lunar Park, Ellis finds himself pursued by a ghost – a benevolent one, in fact - who wants to prevent him from writing his next book, because it would cost him his relationship with his son. Both books say the same thing: creativity can be a curse, because it takes away from real life, whether inner or concrete.
